Do Google Generation Students Need Different Instructional Modes?

Session Description

A recent article in The Verge, “File Not Found: A Generation that Grew Up with Google is Forcing Professors to Rethink their Lesson Plans” suggests that STEM students from the Google generation think nonlinearly, making it difficult for them to master STEM concepts. Let’s discuss how growing up with quick access to information has changed the way students learn and explore the importance of understanding students’ mental models and helping them to develop additional mental models needed to be successful in college and in the world of work.
