About the Consortium

CHARTER
of the
NORTH TEXAS COMMUNITY COLLEGE CONSORTIUM
As Revised and Approved February 9, 2015
 

Article I Name

The name of this organization shall be the North Texas Community College Consortium. It shall be a nonprofit organization operating under the laws of the State of Texas.
 

 

Article II Purpose, Vision, and Mission

Section 1: Purpose
The North Texas Community College Consortium is organized exclusively for education, support and collaboration purposes.
 
Section 2: Vision
The North Texas Community College Consortium is a premier regional network enabling member institutions to achieve more, improve quality, and reduce costs through collaboration.
 
Section 3: Mission
The mission of the North Texas Community College Consortium is:
a) To provide high quality, low cost, easily accessible professional development opportunities;
b) To promote excellence and innovation in teaching and learning;
c) To support and develop educational pathways;
d) To further institutional planning, institutional research, and institutional effectiveness;
e) To improve resource development capabilities;
f) To enhance international education initiatives; and
g) To promote communication, cooperation, and collaboration.
 

 

Article III Membership

Membership in the Consortium shall be open to all community colleges in the northeast quadrant of the State of Texas and to others as approved by the Board.  The University of North Texas shall serve as Consortium host office.
 

 

Article IV Governance and Administration

Section 1: Governance
The Consortium is governed by a Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is made up of one voting representative from each member community college and one voting representative from the Consortium host office.
 
Section 2: Administration
The Consortium President, appointed, supervised, and evaluated by the Board, oversees the operations and activities of the Consortium. The President works with the Executive Steering Committee and standing committees to accomplish Consortium objectives. Consortium support staff, appointed, supervised, and evaluated by the Consortium President, support the operations and activities of the Consortium. Consortium Support Staff work with the Consortium President to implement Consortium objectives identified by the Board, Executive Steering Committee, and standing committees.
 

 

Article V Funding

Section 1: Dues
Each member community college shall pay annual dues according to a formula determined and approved by the Board of Directors. The Consortium office host (University of North Texas) shall not pay dues. The University of North Texas shall provide Consortium office space, furniture, technology, and equipment. Member college dues shall be utilized to support Consortium work and to fund the annual salary and benefits of the Consortium President and Consortium Support Staff.
 
Section 2: Registration Fees
The Consortium shall charge a registration fee to each event participant in an amount sufficient to reimburse event costs and support Consortium operations.
 
Section 3: SponsorshipThe Consortium may solicit and accept funds or in-kind support from external supporters in an amount sufficient to reimburse event, program, or initiative costs and support Consortium operations.
 

 

Article VI Amendments

This charter may be amended at any regular or special meeting of the Board of Directors by the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the Board members.
