Approaching student preparedness from a deficit mindset does not yield the results we need. Rather me must focus on what we can control, which is becoming more “student-ready.” In this presentation, we will share how we are building bridges to support students in college-level writing courses.

Participants will: - Understand some of the policies and legislative decisions that impact student success - Understand the context of Richland's program - Discuss and understand how Richland has developed and implemented Supplemental Instruction Seminars - Discuss and understand the impact of the Supplemental Instruction Seminars
