Best Practices: Practical Tools for Providing Quality Online Instruction

Session Description

During this presentation, you will hear from practitioner and researcher, Amanda Jackson, about "tried and true" tools for online instruction. She will review core tasks to increase student performance and retention, as well as practices she has found to be beneficial in the field.

Session Goals

-Provide each attendee with core practices to increase online student retention and performance -Submit to each attendee practices that have been found to be useful in online instructional delivery -Offer a short review of what the literature suggests in comparison to what has been utilized and helpful in the field per presenter experience

Full Description

Presenter will begin with an overview of current literature regarding online instructional delivery practices found to increase student retention. Then, the presenter will offer practical and real world experience including the tenets used by BYU-Idaho for quality online instruction. Each attendee will be given a handout of what has been found to be effective practices in online instruction via personal experience and the literature. There will be time at the end for open discussion and questions.
