Streaming Video and Automated Closed Captioning—DCCCD’s Story

Session Description

In this millennial age we are saturated with video but where is it stored and how do you make it accessible to everyone? Through much research, trial, and error; DCCCD has developed an easy to use streaming video interface that automates closed captioning up to 96% accuracy by leveraging the power of IBM Watson.

Session Goals

Come learn how DCCCD is changing their strategies in video streaming for online and in the classroom and see how these technologies can easily be adapted. In addition to hearing from the project's lead developer, attendees will learn best practices for creating streaming video for their online course from a producer and editor with more than 25 years of experience.

Full Description

Through much research, trial, and error; DCCCD has developed an easy to use streaming video interface that automates closed captioning up to 96% accuracy by leveraging the power of IBM Watson. Participants will learn the regulatory and cost factors that lead to this institution-built solution, how this Stream-It platform streamlines the process for faculty and students, protects student privacy and assignment integrity, allows for the creation of in-line assessment and cuts labor and time on task by using Artificial Intelligence (IBM Watson) to generate closed captions.
